This is the inside of a burning log of fire, I burnt my fingers a little whilst taking this photo. The log basically has a hole in one side, into the center, and then a hole from the top, going down in the center, meeting the other hole in the middle of the log. Wax and a fuse poored into the hole to start up the fire inside the log, which burns the whole log from inside to out eventually, creating a beautiful (and cheap) candle for 2-4 hours or so.
